It's my first spring in Kissimmee But that's what they always say You know I'm goin' out there And givin' all I got And maybe if I'm lucky I could win a roster spot I was asked down to Kissimmee Though I came from double-A I guess that maybe someone Thought they'd need to watch me play I knew that they were watching And each day was like a test So I held to my faith in God And tried to do my best The hits they started coming The runs, the RBI And homers, too, I was surprised To see how far they'd fly I didn't rest or slacken But kept on playing hard And sure enough that ball just Kept on flying from the yard The roster's now been made up With twenty-five on board And look, my name is one of them Thanks to the good Lord! I didn't really think That I'd be on the list But hard work really brings results If only you persist
