The No Room in the Outfield Blues
(for Jason Lane)

Last winter they signed Jeff Kent, put him there at second base
Since that time the outfield has become a crowded place
They moved Bidge here and that spells nothing but bad news
I got them overcrowded, no room in the outfield blues

Last year I hit .290, made one error in the field
But see'n as I'm the rookie, I get the raw end of the deal
That's how it works, you know. You gotta pay your dues
I got them overcrowded, no room in the outfield blues

I'm prob'ly stuck here in New Orleans, the Astros triple-A
At least if I'm a Zephyr, I'll be playin' every day
Well heck you win some, and then sometimes you lose
I got them overcrowded, no room in the outfield —
No doubt about it, there's no room in the outfield —
Unless something changes, there's no room in the outfield blues.
